It's a beautiful day in the Neighborhood... and perfect for a birthday

Has anyone else heard of Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood? It the coolest thing, they took the puppet kingdom that Mr. Rogers used to visit and made it into a kids cartoon. I got to see an episode today and it was super cute... the things you learn while decorating cookies 

So when my friend called and wanted Daniel Tiger themed cookies for her darling little girl, Reagan's first birthday I jumped on Google and started looking it up. These were fun and colorful and the look on her face when she took her first "lick" of Daniel Tiger was worth all the sugar in the world 

Some quick little bugs for a deserving teacher.

My friend asked for some gluten free bugs to give her daughter's school teacher since she helped with the class presentations when they were learning all about creepy crawlies in class. She wanted something fun and cute... I think these fit the bill ;)

Here are some fun cookie sets I did for Valentines day this year... Conversation hearts of all sized, and some mini red velvet/vanilla cookies in a cute cup.

It's a Girl... Monster :)

So I just have to say that I love my customers, seriously, you guys are great! I have been able to do some of the most fun cookies ever and you guys are not afraid of doing something different.

These are for a baby shower... and girls baby shower. From what I understand the mother did not want anything too girly so her best friend decided to do fun colorful monsters. They found these really cute decals they were going to use and she sent me a pic. I loved them the moment I saw them. But how to make them fit the theme a little better without going too "girly" on the mom... BOWS! We did the same style monsters, kept to the softer color choices, and added a tiny bow to each one to give it just a touch of flair. (How cute did these come out? I LOVE THEM)

On another big plus side for this set of cookies, I got to try out a brand new plaque cookie cutter I'd been eyeing for months from Karen's Cookies and finally bought while at a cookie conference earlier this month. :)

These were done for a splash pad party, they were put into cute little boxes that had brightly colored patterns on them.

All the world loves a clown (cookie)

These were a quick job for me. I was asked very nicely to do up birthday cookies for a friend's sister who LOVES clowns. Since people either love or hate clowns, I wanted to make sure these were as friendly as I could possibly make them. These came out exactly the way I sketched them. I love the colors and texture of the hair.

I found out after telling my friend about the face idea that she loved it BUT her sister loved clown hats for some reason. This one was just for her, 3 silly clown hats on one cookie :) I can't wait to hear how they go over.

Reagan is coming... baby shower cookies

I am so excited about our friend's Danny and Alissa are about to be the proud parents of a baby girl. They are the best people and my husband and I could not be happier for them, they are like family. Her mom called and asked if I could help with the shower and of course I was more than happy to help out :)

The theme was animals and polka dots. I have a set of vintage circus animals that I love to use whenever I can. I tried to match the large dot pastel sprinkles by Wilton since we were using them in other deserts, next time I'll rethink the yellow... the dots were a little hard to see when wet :) Each person got to take home a "R" onesie and some of the baby shower themed bites (and maybe some chocolate to fill out the bag).

Summer Fun... Flip flops and fishes!

So Emily sent me an email after seeing my very first cookies and wanted flip flops for her and fishes for her husband since he likes to fish. She let me have total creative freedom which was really fun. I probably made way too many colors for such a small order but I couldn't help myself. These were my first fish and let me tell you, that little "smile" makes all the difference, they went from looking like a cheap decoration to something with personality with just one little stroke of my magical markers. She said she wanted some sort of "gone fishing" sign so I decided to make matching dots to display her message.

They just went into the mail to meet them on vacation later this week. I really hope she likes them, I totally fell in love with them and they almost didn't make it ;)

First ever cookie class

First Cookie Class • All in one Bake Shop, Austin TX

9am began my adventure into an unknown realm of sweet treats. I'd always wanted to do something creative that I could eat and cookies seemed to be the perfect solution. My previous attempts at sugar cookies always seemed to fall flat... ever cut a cookie and it looks perfect going into the oven but turns into a giant unrecognizable blob when it comes out? That was the only experience I had with sugar cookies. Just being able to roll something out and have it come out of the oven exactly as it went in has been worth it's weight in powdered sugar. We got started and dove right into the decorating, I learned thinks like flooding, outlining, dragging, crazy star and leaf tips, color mixing... I was surprised at how easy it all seemed (but isn't everything easy when it's all laid out for you before hand). The class was super fun and I think everyone was pretty impressed at the way they came out for a first attempt, half of them didn't even make it home with all the hungry people willing to "test" them for me :)
