Chocolate Covered Strawberries... as cookies!!

I am soooo proud of these. I went thru mulitple recipes to get it just right because these don't just look like Valentine's Days favorite treat but they taste just like it too. A good strawberry, not fake, tasting cookie with a strawberry liquor and chocolate ganache royal icing... these were so good I wish I had made twice as many because I want to eat more and I bearly had enough for my orders.

Here are some fun cookie sets I did for Valentines day this year... Conversation hearts of all sized, and some mini red velvet/vanilla cookies in a cute cup.

Valentine's Day Assortment

Since this was my first Valentine's Day to make cookies, I made a bunch :) Here is a short list of the random hearts that came out of my kitchen this week...

These are on their way to a nursing home that takes care of our great aunt. I wasn't sure of the gender mix there so we wanted to do something a little less traditional pink and red. The text is done with stamps I found at a scrapbook shop, I love that I found multiple messages in the same style so they could say different things.

This was my first time playing with brush embroidery techniques. I wanted to do some simple, yet pretty, cookies for R.O.C.K Horses for Heroes that we were serving Valentine's Day dinner to. We had a set of cookies for each person waiting for them on their place setting at the table, I had a few left over that went home to spouses :)

These were my "have fun with left-over" cookies. I always make more cookies than I need (in case I stick a finger in one) so I had extra blanks. I just played with these and did something quick and simple. I'd never tried to do a scalloped border before but overall they were fun and I had extras to share with friends.

I "Ruv" You

So a friend called and wanted to order some cookies for his wife. I tried to ask all the standard questions but I was getting some odd answers, finally I just asked him to trust me  :) He mentioned that his wife liked chocolate and snicker-doodles. I immediately wanted to try and figure out how to get snicker-doodle flavor into the cookies and I think I nailed it. These were delicious! The only hint I got as to the design was that she liked Boston Terriers and bluegrass music. I wasn't quite sure where to go with the bluegrass but I had lots of ideas for the terrier. This was one of those orders that I was really excited to get done, I still can't get over how cute these were. I was DYING to find out how the wife liked them... he told me it was torture waiting with them on his desk all day but it was all worth it in the end because she loved them.
