The legendary taste of Crown with a touch of cookie

Have I mentioned before that I love adding alcohol to cookies? I don't know why but I really think most things take better with a touch of liquor. These were no exception. While I've done a few burbon/whiskey cookies in the past (here and here), Crown Royal has an identity all it's own. I made these for a friend of ours, Mr. Joe, the policeman. He is constantly trying to get my son to eat cupcakes and sweets for dinner instead of, you know... dinner. He's got the biggest sweet tooth I've ever seen and he loves Crown Royal so these were pretty much a no brainer. The logo cookies are based of a design they put on the bottom of their drinking glasses while the small purple crowns are supposed to represent the purple band seal they put on all the bottles. Pretty simple but I don't think they needed much... plus I had the bag, so how could I go wrong? Purple velvet bags make the best gift wrap, especially when they are filled with cookies.

Pirates101... coming to a PC near you

Pirates101 is KingsIsle's newest addition to their already awesome reputation of wonderful gaming. Based on the same worlds of Wizard101, Pirates101 takes the players on a totally new ride into the sky and onto custom pirate ships to battle new foes and totally new adventures. The characters are awesome and I can't wait to try it. These were created for to celebrate their launch here in Austin, the mini cookies are gold doubloons and the pink pear looking cookies are called "yum" fruit... you know... yo ho ho and a bottle of "yum!" (the 'yum' fruit cookies were actually flavored like rum). Their humor is still right on target for a wide range of age groups and I couldn't wait to help celebrate this latest masterpiece with them.

These characters, clockwise from right to left are:  Deacon, Rat Beard, Bonnie Anne, and El Toro. The portraits were about 5 inches tall and all hand-painted. 

Garnet and Gold all the way...

So my sister-in-law has passed around pics of her "surprise" cookies to all her fellow alumni friends. I received an email from a friend of a friend that wanted some cookies to send her daughter that was starting FSU with 2 friends. Since not everyone is into football I wanted to expand the sports theme and asked what other sports they enjoyed. We decided on a football helmet, softball, and soccer ball. I tried a lot of new techniques on these and I am soooo happy with the way they came out, just look at that soccer ball, not an outline in the whole thing. They went in the mail today so hopefully all the girls enjoy their FSU gift box.

FSU is on the warpath now... well not really but, Go FSU!

My sister-in-law is a FSU alumni and very proud of her alma mater, and rightfully so. She is not the biggest fan of deserts, no pie, pudding, cake, ice cream... but she does LOVE sugar cookies. Ever since I started this hobby I thought that I needed to make her something special since usually I have to resort to an unmentioned, over-priced, cookie on a stick company when I want to send her a treat. I'm sure I'll get heck because the color isn't just right but I had some really bad images to go off and they were all different colors of garnet and gold. I was really pleased with the way the helmets came out. I didn't want the arrow to be raised so I attempted to do it all wet on wet, and for the most part it worked really well. She has no clue what's coming so I'm hoping this will be a good surprise :)
