Thanks for Buzzz-zzz-ing by for my Bee-day party
A little girl is turning 5 this weekend and her whole birthday party is "bee" themed, how cute is that? Her mom found some cookies on Etsy she liked and sent me the link asking if I could do something similar. I didn't want to copy their design so I worked with her and came up with this cute little guy. I love how happy he is :) Since the whole party was yellow, black and white, with intermittent polka-dots throughout... the little number 5 cookies matched her decor. These came out pretty big, but I don't think the kids minded at all. I didn't get a pic of them all bagged up, but I also created a little bee tag that tied onto the bags [with yellow and black (with white polka-dots) ribbon], that read: "Thanks for Buzzz-ing by for Lexi's Bee-day Party."

Beach Party Birthday
I got a call from a friend, who also does cookies, asking for help. She was planning her daughter's birthday party, and didn't have time to make her own cookies... What could I do but say, YES! She had these really cute invites that she was trying to match that had flip-flops and this great beach ball on it. I thought for a long time how to avoid having to do two separate cookies for the flip-flops and then it hit me... a heart! I'm sure someone else has thought of it before, but I've never seen it so I was new to me. The colors worked out great, nice and bright. They all got bagged up with little flip-flop bags and flip-flop keychains tied to them with different colored ribbon, it was a very cute presentation that she had figured out. I had a blast making these and I'm really glad I was able to help out a friend.

Happy Mother's Day, Part 2
Happy Mother's Day to all those moms out there. These are the second set of cookies I did for Mother's Day this year, this time I was told the mom loved flowers and her favorite color was yellow. I knew they were going to be shipped so I didn't want to go too crazy, but thanks to a wonderful flower tutorial from Sweet Sugar Bell (here), I had the perfect idea for my "yellow" flowers, the rest just had to keep up. Instead of using luster dust like she did, I did some washes with color to add depth and definition. I was told she very much enjoyed them, something fun and simple for the Mom who loves bright colors and flowers :)

Happy Mother's Day, Part 1
It's Mother's Day, and I was asked to make cookie for two very special moms. This set was for a "classy" mom who loved black and white with just a little red for accent. I immediately thought of a guest post by Ali-Bee on Sweet Sugar Bell's blog who did a tutorial on creating brush embroidery (here) and thought this would be a great time to give it a shot. I really liked the way these came out. I was a little afraid of doing black and white cookies for Mother's Day and that they'd be a little odd but all in all I think these were exactly what she wanted.

Pink and Yellow Baby Shower
Baby Alicia is on her way and I got to make her baby shower cookies :) I was told their theme was yellow and pink... not a combo I'd usually make but I went with it to see what I could come up with. These were fun to play with, I tried a little bit of everything to get some fun textures and make them different from the first set of baby girl cookies (here) that were done for the mom's sister. I love the little details I was able to get into these, the little flowers and hearts on the yellow onesies, the bow on the duck, and even the little "A" on the blanket in the stroller. They were a surprise for the mom and I got some great feedback that they were well loved by all.
Wizard 101, Happy Birthday Gavin
Wizard 101 cookies, take 2 :) I got an email from a mom who's son is a big fan of Wizard 101. She'd seen the platter of cookies I did for the company and wanted something similar for her son's birthday party. I kept the bite cookies pretty much the same but I was able to add more detail to the doodle cookies this time around, including a colorful dotted border and a custom "birthday" cookie with 2 wizards from his school (balance). I always love making Wizard 101 cookies, it is such a fun game with the best fans on earth. Maybe I'll get to do some ninja pigs or goblins next time :)
